Grand Theft Auto: Important for All Ages

Grand Theft Auto. These three words together have been hated by many parents, hated by the media, and by anyone that is offended by the antics the game has done. From adult themes, to drugs, to even a torture scene, GTA has had a wild ride as it has sold for millions and became a masterpiece in gaming. Despite what others may tell you, GTA (specially GTA 5) is a necessity that has received a bad reputation.

From here on, you'll mostly refer to GTA 5, the most recent game of the series.

GTA 5 has been claimed by critics to e one of the best video games made for the recent generation in gaming. With incredible graphics, a great story with great characters, and an open world that allows you to simply be you, what is there not to like? Of course, when this world is filled with violence, adult themes, and etc, you can understand why people would be so dissatisfied. Why would they? All that this game is doing is trying to be as realistic as possible.

Yes, GTA 5 is a satire of the modern world. Crime happens every day. All of the bad little things that happen in the game happen in real life. Not only that, but the game perfectly emulates and refers to actual issues that happen in our world. From the torture scene, to the side quests with drugs, these are actual issues addressed that are constantly occurring today. This game is not shy about addressing these issues either, and leave a lasting impact on players.

That is one of the most precious acts about GTA 5: it teaches you about life. Even if you are a person that has been sheltered by parents, this game can literally teach you about everything you need to know about modern-day society. People may not want to accept this, but our modern society is not doing so good. This game shows us this. GTA 5 shows how corrupt our society is, and how people have changed in a very negative way.

"But wait! Doesn't this game promote violence? "

Actually, it does not force you to do anything (except for that one torture mission). You get as much violence from the story of GTA 5 as any other game. But the open world does not promote killing others. In fact, if you decide to go on a killing rampage, the cops will go after you. The cops in GTA 5 are not so kind either, and will try to stop you as if they were real cops; their details have certainly been made well.

Not only this, but the whole game has many activities to participate in. Instead of killing people, you can go hunting in the wild. Instead of killing people, you can go play some sports. Even riding around and listening to the radio in the car is enjoyable. This game is a free-roam open world that allows you to act and play as you choose. Yes, there are many sinful activities that can be done. But again, this is just as optional as a majority of the game itself.

So where is the fire here; why do many people give this game such a hard time? Simply put, people cannot handle the truth! This game can literally open the eye of many and show you the world in a different way. But people are blinded by this idea that it is a bad portrayal of this world. But from the beauty of its natural environment, to the authenticity of its slums, it is basically like looking at a mirror of reality.

If you haven't done so already, play this game. But don't only play GTA 5, but learn from it. So many different ideas and perspectives are shown and portrayed in this game. It is not only an enjoyable experience, but an experience that you keep you thinking and show you the different sides of issues that will sooner or later affect you in the actual world.
